Amit Bhatt is a popular television actor, best known for portraying Champaklaal in SAB TV popular show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. This comedy sitcom is one of the most popular television shows over the years. Each and every character of the series has made a unique impact on audiences and viewers of the show have been always eager to know about the real age of Champaklaal. Actually this 40-year actor is much younger than the character he portrays on small screen. Though Amit is a well-established stage actor and has acted in television series like Yes Boss, Chupke Chupke, FIR, Funny Family.com, Gupshup Coffee Shop etc, it was Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah which made him a household name. He spent nearly 16 years in theatre.

Since school time he was into acting. He got an offer to appear in Doordarshan Gujarati play. One year later a Radio Channel’s short play. Since college days he took part in inter college competitions and his acting career took off. Associated with school plays since young, Amit spent more than 16 years in theater and a well-established stage actor. He stays in Mumbai with his wife and twin sons. An active theater personality especially in Gujarati, he has also done Hindi plays and television serials.

He plays the role of an old wise man Champaklaal in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. A loving personality, he loves his daughter-in-law and loves Tappu also. Viewers have liked this onscreen character a lot. He worked with well experienced tele serial director Shashank Bali for CID. He was associated with the detective series F.I.R for three years, which gave him initial recognition.
