Dinyar Contractor Biography

Dinyar Contractor is a film actor associated with Bollywood. Though he has appeared only in less number of movies, his roles have been appreciated. Mostly he appears in comic roles. He is best known for playing the role of college principal in action thriller – Khiladi (1993) starring Akshay Kumar and Ayesha Jhulka. He was seen in one of the most memorable and hilarious comedy scene of the movie, where he is seen blinking his eye to the student, Ayesha Jhulka. This single comedy scene capitulated him to fame and popularity, though he played only a small role in the film. He was also seen in Daraar, Chori Chori Chupke Chupke etc. He is also associated with television shows.

He is a Parsi stage actor who is a seasoned actor in Bollywood. He currently resides in Mumbai. Apart from Parsi stage plays, he is also associated with Hindi and Gujarati language plays too. Since school days he was active in theater and his professional career began in 1966. He is quite popular with DD channel show, Aavo Mari Saathe, a Gujarati program where he shared screen space with another Parsi actor Adi Marzban. Aavo Mari Saathe was the first show which was aired on DD-2 network. Since then he got small and comic roles for movies and television shows.

Though he plays small roles in films, his roles are well remembered by audience, mostly for its comic element. His role as a casino manager in Baadshah (1999) and College Principal in Khiladi (1993) are his most memorable roles. Khiladi (1993) was a breakthrough film of Akshay Kumar’s career, which began a successful series of ‘Khiladi’ films. Dinyar was also seen in the films, Khichdi: The Movie as Judge, Jhankaar Beats, Baazigar and 36 China Town.
