Harikumar Krishnamoorthy, shortly called Hari Kumar. K is a young writer, English novelist and Malayalam screenwriter, who has been featured as one of the top horror writers of India. His first book When Strangers Meet was published in 2013. That Frequent Visitor (2015) and A Game of Gods (2016) are his rest two published books, and he also wrote screenplay for one Malayalam movie, titled E in 2017. The horror film received rave reviews and also marked comeback of actress Gautami to Malayalam cinema after 14 years. Born in Kochi he was brought up in the suburbs of Gurgaon.
Harikumar Krishnamoorthy was born to Malayali parents in Kochi, Kerala on 3 January 1989. Tripunithura is his hometown. Later the family shifted to Gurgaon, Haryana where he was brought up, and completed his education as well. He completed his engineering course. But later did a few short films and documentaries, in association with his friends. He finished the manuscript of his first book in 2010, and very soon became critically ill. It took three years for him to find a publisher, as most of them rejected for being a new writer or reasons best known to them. Finally his first book, When Strangers Meet was published in 2013 by Srishti Publishers. The novel telling the story of three strangers who meet at a metro station, also included some of writer’s personal experiences.
As a tribute to the Delhi anti-rape protests, he released his second book, That Frequent Visitor in 2015, and the third book, A Game of Gods in 2016. Under the suggestion of acclaimed filmmaker and cinematographer, Sangeeth Sivan he plunged into films, and wrote his first film script, E in 2017 which received positive reviews. He also played a cameo role of Mr. Menon in this film.
