Malavika (singer) Biography

Malavika is a well-known and sensational playback singer associated with Telugu cinema. She is one of the leading young playback singers at present with around 500 movie songs to her credit. She won the prestigious Nandi Award winner for 'best playback singer' for the years 2006 and 2011. She won ETV’s Padutha Teeyaga as a child singer. She is regularly seen in musical shows of Telugu television and has anchored a few musical shows too. Some of her chartbuster songs are Bommali from Billa, Holessa from Sri Ramadasu, Sunday Monday from Khaleja, Vennelaina cheekataina from Prema Katta Chitram and Amma avani from Rajanna. She has also sung a few songs in Kannada and Hindi.

 

Malavika hails from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. She belongs to a family with music background. She was taught the first lessons of classical music at a very young age by none other than her mother. Her mother is a singer and a radio artist. Later she received classical training from Kum Mandapaka Sarada. She completed her schooling from her hometown Visakhapatnam. She studied in the same school where her mother worked as a music teacher. Malavika gained recognition as a child singer through TV shows, and when she started receiving more offers, the family shifted to Hyderabad.

 

She recorded her first ever song for the movie Rockford, an English song. It was followed by a song from the movie Bollywood Calling. "Nuvvu nenu kalisunte" for the movie Gangotri was her first song for any Telugu movie. Her songs are included in the films – Soggade Chinni Nayana, Right Right, Gangotri, Dheera, Honeymoon Express, Sri Ramadasu, Rajanna, High School, Subhapradam, Varudu, Shirdi Sai etc. She is known for her distinctive voice and also hard working attitude in the industry.
