Manav Gupta Biography

Manav Gupta is an Indian artist known for Conceptual art, installation art, Painting, Murals, Sculpture and Performances. He has incorporated his art in poetry, paintings, music etc to recreate a new version. He is also an art collector interested in collecting unusual objects. He is the first Painter to get the Sanatan Sangeet Sanskriti by French Ambassador (2006). He won international acclaim for his mega mural work done on a very big canvas of 6 floor height at the headquarters of a leading telecom group in Gurgaon near Delhi, in 2010. Thousands of employees were involved in the work, which was titled, "The Tree of Life". He has also done a "staircase artwork” for Bharti Airtel.

 

He is an art collector also, who collects unusual objects like discarded and gnarled tree trunks and roots of fallen trees. He picks these up randomly and brings them to home. He works on them for days, even carving on them, and turns them into reusable objects and furniture pieces like tables and chairs. His three bedroom apartment in Noida has been decorated in a unique style with sturdy roots and tree trunks.

 

Manav was born in Kolkata in 1967. Later he moved to Delhi in 1998. Since then Delhi is his home. They later bought the ninth floor flat in Noida where he now resides with his wife Sudeshna, elder son and one daughter. Gupta bought another apartment close by that, and he converted into his studio giving some trendy touches. He has co-authored a book of poems and paintings with former President of India Dr A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. Manav is one of the best contemporary artists of present times, who works on a 360-degree platform of canvases, video installations and performances.
