N Valarmathi Biography 
Indian satellite scientist N Valarmathi, the Bangalore based project director of ISRO, hails from Ariyalur, born to Mr. Natarajan, retired Block Development Officer, and Ramaseetha in district Ariyalur of Tamilnadu where she had her schooling at Nirmala Girls' Higher Secondary School in Tamil medium. Ms. Valarmathi went on to complete her pre-university course at the Government Arts College, Ariyalur, before moving on to the Government College of Technology, Coimbatore, and from there to the Anna University's Guindy campus.
Valarmathi is the second woman to be the satellite project director at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), but the first woman to head a remote sensing satellite project. Valarmathi had offers from both DRDO and ISRO, and she opted for the latter. For the last several years, she used to have only four to five hours for herself in a day, and kept monitoring various aspects of the satellite. N. Valarmathi led the launch of RISAT-1, a radar imaging satellite in 2012.
Mrs. N Valarmathi is married to Mr. Vasudevan, Assistant General Manager, Vijaya Bank, head office at Bangalore.she has worked in satellite projects like Insat 2A, IRS IC, IRS ID, TES and finally Risat. She is wife of a banker Mr. G. Vasudevan and mother of two, a son and daughter, N Valarmathi got involved in Risat-1 project in 2002 and worked in different capacities as deputy project director and associate project director before she was promoted to the post of project director.
