Niruta Singh Biography

Niruta Singh is a Nepali actress of Indian origin. She hails from Darjeeling, West Bengal. She started her career with the movie Rahar released in 1993 and the movie was directed by Tulsi Ghimire. In 2001 she played the lead role in Nepali all-time blockbuster, Darpan Chayya directed by Tulsi Ghimire and produced by Shrawan Ghimire. The movie made her the top actress of Nepali cinema. Till now she has appeared in around 50 movies, predominantly in Nepalese language. Ajambari Nata, Nai Nabhannu La 5, Thuldai, Chandani, Maiti etc are a few of her popular roles.

 

Niruta Singh was born in Darjeeling, India. Nepali director of Indian origin Tulsi Ghimire was a friend of her father, who convinced him to allow Niruta to act in his film. Thus she marked her career with 1993 film, Rahar and went on to become a top actress over the years, especially after the release of Darpan Chayya, the highest grosser of Nepalese cinema back then in 2001. She played the woman-centric and memorable role of a dying college girl with only 6 months to live, and this single role took her career to new heights. The movie grossed to 70 million Nepali rupee in 2001, the highest collection ever for a Nepali film.

 

Singh is also a singer. She has recorded the title track of a TV series, Vansha and later sang for a music album titled Deepshikha. She took a small break of two years in 2008–2010, to spend time for interior designing in Mumbai. Interior designing is also her hobby. She is still unmarried and single. There have been rumours that she has secretly tied the knot. But the actress has denied all rumours.
