Seema Biography

Seema is a popular actress of Malayalam during late 70’s and 80’s. She has also acted in 9 Tamil, 7 Telugu, 3 Kannada and one Hindi movie too. She is the wife of famous film maker I.V.Sasi and their daughter Anu has also entered movies. She is most known for the leading role in ‘Avalude raavukal’ released in the year 1978, directed by I.V.Sasi. This movie was only the second movie of Seema and it was only the second movie to give adults only certificate. The movie has created great waves during late 70’s and was popular for its songs as well. According to latest reports, its sequel is to be released soon, produced by I.V. Sasi and directed by new comer P H Hameed.  

 

Seema was born on 22 May 1957. ‘Avalude raavukal’ was her first movie as female lead.  Before that she has done minor roles for movies like Achante makal, Itha ivide vare and Nritasaala. The movie created sensations during late 70’s and she was placed in sexy avatar after that. But through doing powerful roles during 80’s she proved that she is not just a glamour doll or sexy girl and that she has enough potential to carry away with the roles given to her. Among her co-stars she was most popular with Jayan. In the last movie of Jayan, where he met with an accidental death – Kolilakkam (remake of Yash Chopra’s Waqt) she was his co-star. Together they created youth sensation during late 70’s and a few of their movies include – Angadi, Kolilakkam, Meen and Lisa.

 

She has won Kerala state awards thrice – Aaroodam (1983), Aksharangal, Aalkuttathil Thaniye (1984) and Anubandham (1985), thus completing a hat-trick.  Surprisingly she has won Filmfare awards too, for these four movies in 3 years, thus completing a hat-trick in Filmfare as well. A few of her selected movies include – Manushya mrigam, Angam, Naanayam, Spodanam, America America, Oru kochu swapnam, Manassoru Mahaasamudram, Chandrahaasam, Swarga devata, Theeram thedunnavar, Adiyozhukkukal, Aalkkoottathil thaniye, Onnanu Nammal, Asuran, Angam, Sindoora sandhyakku maunam and Sandhyakku Virinja Poovu. With I.V.Sasi she has worked in 30 movies. she took break from the industry during 1988 and returned back after 10 years in supporting role with Mohan Lal’s movie – Olympian Antony Adam.
