Suhas Joshi Biography
Suhas Joshi is a Marathi actress who works in movies, television and theatre. She has also appeared in Bollywood movies like Tezzaab (Madhuri Dixit’s mother), Daddy, Hum ho gaye aapke, Josh, Ashoka, Paanch, Aaj ki aurat, Chandini, Papa kehte hain, Aasmaayish and Taaqat. She has also appeared in Marathi movies like Tu Tithe Mee, Balgandharva and Saatchya Aat Gharat. She received Filmfare Award for Best Actress in Marathi film category for her memorable performance in Tu Tithe Mee. Joshi has also received "Ganga-Jamuna Award" for her contributions to Marathi Theater. She has also appeared in Khamoshiyaan, a television serial of Star Plus.
Suhas Joshi is a trained classical singer. She associated with Theatre during her college days at University of Pune. She did a 3 year diploma course in acting from National School of Drama where she got training from Ebrahim Alkazi, noted theater personality. She started her career in 1972 with the Marathi play Barrister, directed by Vijaya Mehta. She played the role of Radha in this play. Very soon she became active in theatre and her noted plays include - Sai Paranjpye's Sakkhe Shejari and Vijay Tendulkar's Kanyadaan. She appeared aside Shriram Lagoo in Agnipankha, Kanyadaan, Natasamraat and Ekach Pyaala. Joshi has also performed in the popular Monologue play Smriti Chitre where she played the role of Lakshmibai Tilak.
Suhas Joshi has also appeared in a few television shows and serials. Khamoshiyaan of Star Plus, Kunku and Prapancha of Zee Marathi, Ek Packet Umeed of NDTV Imagine and Agnihotra of Star Pravah are a few of her television roles. Though she is satisfied with the challenging roles she has got through Indian theatre, she feels that except Tu Tithe Mee, she has never been offered an excellent role to exhibit her real talent. Suhas is married to Subhash Joshi, a theater artist.
