Vinduja Menon Biography
Vinduja Menon is a former actress of Malayalam cinema who was active in the film industry during mid-1990’s. She is the daughter of famous classic dancer, Kalamandalam Vimala Menon. Vinduja Menon took formal learning in classical dance forms from her mother. As a film actress, her most noticed role is 1994 movie Pavithram where she plays the younger sister of Mohanlal and Sreenivasan, with an age difference of more than 30 years. ‘Meenakshi’ was her character name in this movie. She played the role of Bhama, younger sister of Suparna in the classic movie of Padmarajan, Jnan Gandharvan in 1991. She played lead role opposite Jagadish in Vendor Daniel State Licency (1994). The popular song, Neela kanna nine kando was pictured on her. Now she is busy with dance programs and is also a dance teacher.
Vinduja Menon was born in Thiruvananthapuram where she completed her studies. She is a trained classical dancer. She is married to Rajesh Kumar and the couple has one daughter. She is a former Kalathilakam during interschool festivals and the first artist from Thiruvananthapuram to receive this honour. She studied at NSS College for Women, Karamana. She entered film industry as a child artist in the early 1990’s through the movie, Onnanam kunnil oradi kunnil. Then she appeared in Jnan Gandharvan and Nombarathipoovu, both as child artist in Padmarajan movies.
As an adult actress, Pavithram was her first movie in which she played the lead of Mohanlal’s younger sister, Meenakshi. Shobana, Thilakan, Srividya and Sreenivasan were other artists. Sree ragam, Superman, Puthukottyile Puthu Manavalan, Aayiram naavulla Ananthan, Bheeshmacharya, Pingami, Tom and Jerry and Vendor Daniel State Licency are other noticed roles. After appearing in a few memorable roles, she vanished from the film industry. Now she is planning for a comeback, about 18 years later.
