Amar Noorie Biography
Amar Noorie is a noted singing actress from Punjab. She is married to established Bhangra and folk artist - Sardool Sikander, who is referred to as ‘King of Bhangra’. Amar has been associated with her husband for performances and movies. The couple has two sons Sarang Sikander and Alaap Sikander who have forayed to the music world. Started her professional singing career at the age of 9, Amar Noorie is a well-established female artist of Punjabi folk music at present.
She was born in Rangeelpur of Ropar, Punjab into a musical family. Her father Roshan Sagar was a singer and Amar was introduced to the world of singing at the age of 9, where she started singing with Punjabi singer Didar Sandhu in 1981. She recorded her first song at the age of 13. She met Sardool Sikander in 1986 during her teens and they started singing together. Later they got married. She made her acting debut in Punjabi films in the early 1990s and she continued with her music journey too.
Badla Jatti Da (1991) marked her film debut, where she played the supporting role of Noorie. The movie starred Yograj Singh, Gugu Gill and Upasana Singh in the lead roles and was directed by Ravinder Ravi. Earlier she has appeared in the TV series - "Eho Hamara Jeevna" in 1988. Later she acted in Punjabi movies like Jorr Jatt Da, Dil Da Maamla, Panchayat, Jang Da Maidan etc in the 1990s and currently she portrays character roles. Daddy Cool Munde Fool, Pata Nahi Rabb Kehdeyan Rangan Ch Raazi and Tere Ishq Nachaya are some of her noted roles in the recent times.
