Amit Behl is a popular television actor and model, who shot to fame after playing the male protagonist in India’s first television soap opera – Shanti, aired on Doordarshan in 1994. Mandira Bedi played the female lead in this cult classic television serial, which successfully ran for many years. Surprisingly both Amit Behl and Mandira Bedi marked their career beginning with ‘Shanti’ and later went on to become the successful stars of television. Since then Amit has acted in more than 100 television serials, belonging to Hindi, English, Marathi, Punjabi and Urdu languages. Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat and Pradhanmantri are among his noted television roles, and currently appears in Buddha and Savitri.  

Amit Behl was born in Mumbai on 30 October 1965. He started his acting career through college plays and had short stint in professional theatre in Delhi and Mumbai before he reached Shri Ebrahim Alkazi's Living Theatre Academy of Drama. This talented actor has an experience in theatre for more than 25 years and he has completed 22 years in television soaps as well. Theatre is his first love and he wants to produce plays in future. He is the first hero of Indian soaps. He is also associated with radio plays. He is an engineer in profession and has also done management studies. Apart from television serials, he has acted in more than 30 films in Hindi and English, he has also acted in many TV ads, documentaries and corporate films. He has also performed as an anchor and voice actor.

Though he became extremely popular through his debut show, he stayed away from the industry for 7 years. Later he made a strong comeback through STAR Plus’ Kora Kagaaz and Sony’s 'Shaheen'. 'Zanjeerein', 'Sahab', 'Daraar', ‘Humse Hain life’, ‘Veer Sivaji’, ’Dekha Ek khwab’ and 'Jaane Kahan Mera Jigar Gaya Ji' are some of his noted roles later. A psychiatrist in 'O Maria'’ or a qualified Mafia underworld Don in ‘Kismat’, he has always excelled in portraying different kind of roles. One of the busy stars of television industry, Amit works in multiple soaps at the same time.
