Bratati Bandopadhyay Biography
Bratati Bandopadhyay is a leading elocutionist from Bengal. Her elocutions in Bengali language include the works of Rabindranath Tagore, Nazrul Islam, Sukumar Ray and Shankha Ghosh, and she is currently associated with the performing group Sarathi. She is highly talented in reciting poems and quite a popular figure in Bengal. Her spontaneity in recitals, stage presence, energy levels and catching voice are her trademarks to make her a popular figure in this field. Apart from public speaking, recitals and debating, she is also interested in theatre and acting. She currently resides in Kolkata.
Bratati Bandopadhyay was born in Hridaypur, a suburb of Kolkata. Manjul Kumar Bandyopadhyay and Maya Bandyopadhya are her parents. She schooled at Bethune Collegiate School at Kolkata. She completed Master’s in Economics from University of Kolkata. Though poem recital is her passion, she is interested in theater and acting too and has appeared in one Bengali film - Rangeen Godhooli released in 2009. She set up Kabyayan – the institute to practise elocution in the year 1990. It trains people to recite poems and also make people realize the joy of reading poetry.
She released a few albums in her poem recitals. Bratati Bandopadhay Kabita Sangraho in six parts, Premer Badol Namilo, Chirosokha, Ami sei meye, Hip Hip Hurre, Fagun Haowa and Ami sei meye are among her popular renditions released as albums. She regularly performs in cultural events also and mesmerizes the audience with poems of Tagore, Nazrul, Sukumar Ray and many more. Poetry is the soul of music and through her voice and inimitable and captivating style she has enlighten many such poetry pieces. She is one among those artists who revised Rabindranath Tagore’s works through recitals.
