Gowri Munjal Biography
Gowri Munjal is a south Indian film star best known for the Telugu hit – Bunny released in 2005. The movie marked the successful debut of this actress as well. This movie was the third successive hit of Allu Arjun after Gangotri and Arya. Gowri played the female lead for this movie. Gowri is originally a Delhite who found success in south Indian movies. She also played lead roles in Telugu movies - Sri Krishna (2006) and Gopi - Goda Meedha Pilli. Thottal Poo Malarum and Singakutty are her Tamil movies. She played the pivot role of crime analyst aside Mammootty in Malayalam crime thriller - Paleri Manikyam: Oru Pathirakolapathakathinte Katha in 2009. She also acted in 2011 Malayalam thriller – Race as Indrajith’s wife.
She was born in New Delhi in 1985. She moved to Mumbai to pursue a career in acting. However she landed in south Indian movies instead. The producers were in a search for a new face opposite Allu Arjun for their upcoming movie, Bunny and she was offered the lead role. Her role as Mahalakshmi Somaraju was well appreciated and the movie was a box office hit as well. Thus she received more roles from south Indian film industry and she stayed here.
Namma Basava released in the same year marked her Kannada debut as well. She went on to appear in all the rest south Indian language movies as well. Both her Tamil releases - . Thottal Poo Malarum and Singakutty became unsuccessful and she moved to Malayalam. She was paired with Mammootty for the highly acclaimed crime thriller - Paleri Manikyam: Oru Pathirakolapathakathinte Katha, directed by Ranjith.
