Gul Panag Biography
Gul Panag is a very successful Indian model who has appeared in a few music videos and Bollywood movies as well. Her noted works in films include - Dor, Dhoop, Manorama Six Feet Under, Hello, Turning 30 and Straight. She is former Miss India and has represented India in Miss.Universe contest as well. One of her earliest appearances on screen was for Sonu Nigam’s Deewana where she appeared in the hit song, Kuch tum socho. Gul Panag was the Twitter Face for the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week held in 2009.
Panag did her primary education in Punjab. Her father was in army and as a sequel of his transfers, he studied in 14 different schools including Kendriya Vidyalayas (Chandigarh, Mhow, Leh and Wellington) and The Lawrence School, Lovedale. She holds Bachelor degree in Mathematics and Masters in Political Science from Punjabi University. As a student, Panag was interested in sports and public speaking and from state and national level and she has won many debate competitions as well. She has won two gold medals at the Annual National Inter University Debate competition.
Panag won the Miss India title in 1999, and was crowned Miss Beautiful Smile at the same pageant. But she couldn’t win Miss Universe. She became a top model after this beauty pageant. Panag began her career in Bollywood, with the 2003 film Dhoop. For the critically well acclaimed movie, Door in 2007, she won Zee Cine Critics Award for Best Actress, tied with Ayesha Takia. She has been nominated in Stardust Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role (2009) for Hello and Screen Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role (2007) for Dor.
When she reached 30 years, she played leading role in a Bollywood movie – Turning 30! And it went well with her ‘present status’ then. But the movie failed to create an impact in box office. Her other Bollywood movies include - Manorama Six Feet Under, Jurm, Anubhav, Straight and Rann. She has also worked in a few television serials of which Kashmeer was most popular. She has also appeared as an anchor in many television programs.
