Hemant Shesh Biography
Hemant Shesh is a celebrated Hindi writer. He has published thirteen poetry collections that have been translated to many Indian and foreign languages. Total, he has published 15 booked authored by him and has also edited a few books. In 2009, he received K. K. Birla Foundation's Bihari Puraskar for the book, Jagah Jaisi Jagah, a collection of his poems. In 1988, he was awarded by the Government of Rajasthan for 'original outstanding creative writing'. Apart from a writer and editor, he is also known as a painter, art-critic, columnist, photographer and Ex-senior Civil Servant.
He was born on 28 December 1952 in Jaipur. He completed his post graduate education in Sociology from the University of Rajasthan in Jaipur in 1977 and joined Rajasthan Administrative Service the same year. He has held many higher positions of government service including Dy. Secretary to His Excellency the Governor of Rajasthan, Secretary Rajasthan Public Service Commission, Secretary, Rajasthan Information Commission, and District collector and magistrate in Pratapgarh district. He retired from Indian Administrative Service as Registrar for the Board of revenue in Ajmer.
A few of his major works include - Jaari Itihaas Ke Viruddha published in 1974 and Jagah Jaasee Jagah published in 2006. Other published works are Neend men Mohenjodaro, Vrikshon Ke Swapna, Beswaad Hawayen, Kripal Singh Shekhawat, Aap Ko yah Jaan Kar Prasanntaa Hogee, Bahut Kuchh Jaisaa Kuchh Naheen, Ghar-Baahar, Ashuddha Saarang, Kasht Ke Liye Kshamaa, Khed-Yog-Pradeep, Raat ka Prahlad and Kripayaa anyathaa Na Len. Majority of his works include poetry collection. His published works also include monograph and long poems. He has contributed reviews, comments, poems, criticism, short stories, articles, editorials and columns to periodicals, journals, magazines and newspapers all over the country. He has also written the script of a few television serials and has also directed a few documentaries.
