Kamakhya Narain Singh was a member of royal Narain Dynasty, who later turned a politician. He hailed from Ramgarh, Jharkhand and was the zamindar of Ramgarh Raj. He lived during the period, 10 August 1916 – 7 May 1970. He served as president of Akhil Bharatiya Kshatriya Mahasabha in 1943 and 1953, and other administrative positions within state politics. He and his younger brother, Dr. Basant Narain Singh have served as Cabinet Ministers in the 5th state government headed by Chief Minister of Bihar, Mahamaya Prasad Sinha.
Raja Bahadur Kamakhya Narain Singh was born on 10 August 1916 in Ramgarh, present-day Jharkhand. He hailed from a royal family, which later joined politics and became important political functionaries and legislators. His education was completed at Rajkumar College, Raipur and at Mayo College, Ajmer. When his father passed away in 1919 he became Raja of Ramgarh. He married Lalita Rajya Lakshmi Devi from Nepal in 1936 and the couple had a son, Indra Jitendra Narain Singh.
When his princely state was accessed for Republic India, he lost his power. Following this incident, he joined politics. In 1952 Bihar Assembly elections, he was defeated by Purushottam K. Chauhan, a well-known labour leader. But he won Bihar Assembly Elections of 1967 to get cabinet position in Mahamaya Prasad Sinha’s government. When he was not made the Deputy Chief Minister, he resigned the party in protest.
His fights against Satyendra Narayan Sinha in the 1960s to establish Rajput supremacy in Bihar brought him to limelight once again. His party later merged with the Janata party. He passed away on 7 May 1970 at his residence following a cardiac arrest.
