M. Ranga Rao Biography 
M. Ranga Rao was a prominent music director of Kannada in the golden era of music. His songs are verse in Indian classical rhythms and known for his mellifluous scores. He has received Karnataka State Film Award for Best Music Director three times - Hannele Chiguridaga in 1969, Hosabelaku in 1982 and Bandhana in 1984. Edakallu Guddada Mele, Sakshatkara, Bahaddur Gandu, Kaviratna Kalidasa, Aruna Raaga and Ranganayaki are other noted movies as a music director. Legendary playback singer S. P. Balasubramanyam started his career through the debut movie of Rao - Nakkare Ade Swarga, as a music director.
M. Ranga Rao was born on October 15, 1932 in a small village of Andhra Pradesh. He learnt veena at a younger age and he was inspired a lot by his mother, Rangamma. He holds a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. He entered film industry as an actor doing bit roles. He appeared in bit roles in movies of 1940’s like Swarga Seema (1945) and Yogi Vemana (1947). Later he worked as a veena artist for the movie – Tyagayya released in 1946. As a full-fledged music director, his debut movie was Nakkare Ade Swarga released in 1967 which marked the career beginning of legendary playback singer S. P. Balasubramanyam.
