Manish Makhija Biography

Manish Makhija is a Video jockey better known for his characters Udham Singh on Channel V's The Udham Singh Show (1997), and Munna on UTV Bindass's Cash Cab – Meter Chalu Hai. He is married to to noted film actress Pooja Bhatt, the eldest child of Indian film director, Mahesh Bhatt. Actor Rahul Bhatt is his brother-in-law and actress Alia Bhatt is his sister-in-law. He is a Mumbai-based restaurateur at present. Actress Masumeh Makhija who played lead role in a few Bollywood movies like Padmasree Lalu Prasad Yadav and Chupke se, is his niece.

Makhija was born and brought up in Delhi. Both his parents worked in Indian Postal Department. After graduation, though he enrolled for LLB, he left the course in the middle. Then he joined Channel V as a video jockey and gained popularity in the late 1990’s. The show, 'The Udham Singh Show’ shot him to success. In 2003, she worked with Pooja Bhatt for her debut directorial venture, Paap and also appeared in a bit role. He also sourced two Pakistani soundtracks including, Lagi Tumse Mann Ki Lagan, for the movie. She married Pooja Bhatt the same year and later assisted her in her projects like Rog and Dhoka. He did bit roles in Bollywood movies like Luv shuv te chicken khurana, Dhoka etc.

As a television host, his popular shows are Cash Cab – Meter Chalu Hai (2008) of UTV Bindas and Udham Singh Show (1997). He had a brief stint with Tehelka.com and later moved to Goa where he started a lounge bar, 'The Other Side at Morgem Beach in Goa’. Now he is a restaurateur based on Mumbai.
