Mullapudi Venkata Ramana Biography
Mullapudi Venkata Ramana was a famous story writer of Telugu language. His own created child character called Budugu became immensely popular. Radha, Gopalam and Contractor in Muthyala Muggu and Tutti in Mister Pellam are other famous fictional characters born from this mastermind. He has also written dialogue, story and screenplay writer for many of the movies. His heart-touching and rib-tickling dialogues are very popular.
He received Raghupathi Venkaiah Award for excellence in Films in the year 1986. He has also received Honorary Doctorate awarded by Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati. Raja-Lakshmi Literary Award for the year 1995 was given for his literal contributions. Just before his death in 2011, he completed the work for famous mythological film 'Sri RamaRajyam’ which became a huge hit. The movie starred Nandamuri Balakrishna and Nayantara in lead roles as Ram and Sita and completed 50 days in many theaters.
He was born in a middle class traditional family and he spent his childhood in a small village called Dhowleswaram. His father died when he was only 9 years old and hence his mother had to face a lot of difficulties to raise the family of 3 children. During his schooldays, he was attracted to writing. After schooling he did odd jobs to financially help his family. His career started as a reporter for then the popular news paper in Andhra Patrika in 1953 where he got opportunity to interact with eminent writers of Telugu literature. His first published book was kids’ stories titled - 'Budugu' which became popular.
Later he wrote "Cinema Page" columns for newspapers and weekly which gained popularity. He got introduced to some great Film directors of those times and thus he became a part of Telugu cinema. The milestone in his career is 'Sampurna Ramayanam'.
