Priya Bapat is a Marathi actress who appears in Bollywood also, in character roles. Me Shivajiraje Bhosale Boltoy and Kaksparsh are her noted Marathi movies. She is married to popular Marathi television actor, Umesh Kamat. Now both plays lead role in Marathi drama - Nava Gadi Nava Rajya. She frequently appears in Marathi soaps and quite successful too. She plays simple Maharastrian girl in television soaps and Bandini, Damini, De Dhamaal, Abhal Maya and Shubham Karoti are her popular television roles. She played second lead in Adhuri Ek Kahani. She has also worked in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, a popular Hindi sitcom. Her dance in the movie titled, Masolevani Tuzi is popular amongst the younger generation.
Priya Bapat was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra on September 18, 1986. She studied at Balmohan Vidyamandir. She played a child artist role in National award winning movie, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, where she played the role of Rama bhai, young Sonali Kulkarni. She got this role through her drama teacher, Vidya Patwardhan. Priya has also done cameo appearances in Bollywood movies like Munnabhai M.B.B.S. and Lage Raho Munnabhai.
Priya Bapat gained stardom through the movie, Me Shivajiraje Bhosale Boltoy where she played the role of Shashikala Bhosale. The movie was written by Mahesh manjeraker and directed by Santosh Manjerakar. The movie also starred Mahesh Manjrekar, Sachin Khedekar, Makarand Anaspure and Suchitra Bandekar. She played supporting role in this movie and her role was well appreciated. Priya later appeared in supporting roles in Marathi movies like - Shubham Karoti, Anandi Anand, Kaksparsh and Time please. Kalsparsh is her second most noted role where she played the role of a young girl who becomes a widow on the first night of her married life.
