Raju Srivastav Biography
Raju Srivastav is a standup comedian and comedy actor of Bollywood who came to limelight after television shows on Doordarshan in the late 1990’s. He was a mimicry artist then and used to regularly appear in the evening show, ‘Tea Time Manoranjan’ of Doordarshan, hosted by Daboo Malik. Vrajesh Hirjee was another artist of the same show, who too made it big to Bollywood. He has also appeared as a contestant in Bigg Boss season 3 on Colors TV. He appears as a comedian in many comedy shows of Indian television and hence a popular name.
Raju belongs to Kanpur and he was born on the Christmas day of 1963. His father Ramesh Chandra Srivastava was a poet, popularly known by the name ‘Balai Kaka’. Since school days, Raju dreamt to become a comedian and his first experience was to imitate his school teachers. During 1980’s, he moved to Mumbai and did bit roles in movies. Meine Pyar kiya, Tezaab and Baazigar are those early movies in which he appeared in less significant roles. He also regularly performed stage shows India and abroad and released its CDs as well. ‘Tea Time Manoranjan’ of Doordarshan gave him a big break and he became a familiar face. He also appeared in popular Doordarshan serial, Shaktiman.
With early 2000’s, he began to get comedy roles in Bollywood. Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiyaa in 2001 was one of his early breaks. In this multi-star cast comedy movie, he played the role of Baba Chin Chin Choo. Bombay to Goa, Big brother and Mein prem ki diwani hoon are other noted appearances. Raju Hazir Ho – is one of his most popular television shows.
