Ravishankar Gowda Biography

Ravishankar Gowda is a popular film actor who works in Kannada film industry. He predominantly does comic roles in television and films, which earned him fame and recognition. His role as lead protagonist Dr. Vittal Rao, in the sitcom Silli Lalli which aired on ETV Kannada cemented his position in Kannada entertainment industry. He was featured in more than 1000 episodes of the show. He is married to Sangeetha Gururaj, the daughter of Manjula Gururaj, famous playback singer. 2016 film, Sundaranga Jaana earned him SIIMA Award for Best Actor in a Comic Role. In a career spanning to one decade, he has acted in about 2 dozen Kannada films.

Ravishankar Gowda was born on 26 August 1973 in Karnataka. He joined Kannada films in the year 2008 with the movie, Payana in lead role and later appeared in Mathe Mungaru, Nanjangud Nanjunda, Panchamrutha, Dhan Dhana Dhan, Jogayya, Snehitaru, Devarane, Crazy Star, Jai Lalitha, Ram-Leela etc in supporting roles. He mostly played comic roles onscreen. He bagged the title role of Dr. Vittal Rao, head of the family in the comedy sitcom Silli Lalli in 2016, and shot to fame. The show was directed by Vijaya Prasad and produced by his Final cut production company. It successfully completed 1100 episodes in 2018, and Gowda too received meaty roles from Kannada cinema after its success.

Kiragoorina Gayyaligalu, John Jani Janardhan, Sundaranga Jaana, Sarkari Kelasa Devara Kelasa etc are some of the film roles he bagged later. In 2016, he appeared in the TV show, Majaa Talkies in a guest role. It was a comedy show, aired on ETV Kannada. Snehitaru is one of his memorable roles on big screen.
