Rekha Mohan Biography
Rekha Mohan was a popular actress associated with Malayalam entertainment industry. She predominantly worked in television, apart from a few Malayalam movies. She played lead roles and supporting roles on Malayalam big screen in the 1990s. Rekha was known for her roles in films like Udyanapalakan, Oru Yathramozhi and Ne Varuvolam. She also had a popular small-screen appearance in serial Mayamma. She was found dead in her apartment in Thrissur on November 12, 2016. It came to a big shock to south Indian film industry, as Tamil actor Sabarna was found dead in her Chennai house just one day before. She was survived with her husband.
Rekha Mohan belongs to Pisharath family of Thrissur. Her father K. P. Narayanan worked in Agricultural board. Her mother Indira Narayan is a housewife. She has one twin sister, Rakhi. She completed B Com from St. Thomas College, Iranjalakuda. She was married to Mohana Krishnan, who was running oil deal business in Dubai. Currently he runs business in Malaysia. Theirs was an arranged marriage and they got married when she was only 20. They had a good age gap of 10 years. Yet they got married in 1991. She got active in entertainment industry only after her marriage. She was interested in music, acting and dance since younger days. For the same reason when she got break in films, she accepted it.
Her husband, a businessman had close relationship with many several fraternities. That’s how Rekha got offers from films. Once she passed for a screen test for a Kamal Hassan film in Chennai. It was for the lead role. But seeing the grand film set up, she was not courageous enough to take the role. Oru Yathramozhi marked her screen debut. She also appeared in Dileep starrer Ne Varuvolam, Mammootty starrer Udyanapalakan etc before she became active on small screen.
Rekha was found dead in her apartment in 2016. Her husband was on business tour. As she was not answering the calls, her husband contacted local police, who opened her apartment at Thrissur to find her dead. She died of heart attack aged 45. She was a cancer survivor and didn’t have any kids.
