Sreeja Chandran Biography
Sreeja Chandran is a television actress of Kerala origin, who works in Tamil and Malayalam television. She has also portrayed a few film roles belonging to both these languages. She is best known for playing the female antagonist in the Tamil soap - Saravannan Meenatchi in Star Vijay. Her character name is Meenatchi. She won Favorite Female Actor Award 2014 and Best Female Actor Award at the 43rd award functions of Vijay Television Awards. She married her co-star RJ Senthil Kumar in 2014 a family affair. Senthil is a VJ and has played noted roles in Tamil movies like Vallavanukku Pullum Aayutham.
Sreeja belongs to Thiruvalla of Kottayam district, Kerala. She was born to Bala Chandran and Shalaija Chandran. After schooling in Thiruvalla, she completed graduation in history from Calicut University. Her acting career started through Tamil television at the age of 20. Madurai in Vijay TV marked her acting debut, followed by Manikoodnu, Meera, Mundhanai Mudichi, Nila, Saravannan Meenatchi etc. She became a household name after portraying the lead role in the popular series - Saravannan Meenatchi. Season 1 showed the blossoming love between a VJ and a teacher, the character portrayed by Senthil and Sreeja respectively and the show was aired during 2011-2013.
Sreeja is busy with Malayalam television TV. Some of her noted roles include - Devi Mahatmyam, Swami Ayyappan, Sree Krishna Leela, Kaazcha, Ammathamburatti, Priyam, Akkare Ikkare, Velankani Mathavu, Pakal Mazha, apart from a few Malayalam telefilms. She has also portrayed character roles in a few movies. Krishna Gopala Krishna, Pularvettam, Bargavacharitham Moonam Kantham, Sahodaran Sahadevan and Pakal are her Malayalam films while Vennila Veedu and Aandavan are her Tamil releases.
