Vipin Handa Biography

Vipin Handa is a well-known film producer, lyricist, businessman and television personality from New Delhi. He has hosted several successful television shows and has also directed one Bollywood movie, Uff yeh mohabbat which started the career of actor turned director – Abhishek Kapoor. He received a nomination for best debut director for this movie in the year 1997. As a television host, Baaton Baaton Mein is his most popular talk show which won ‘Best talk show’ award in the year 1994.  Aamne Saamne (1982), for Doordarshan was the first show hosted by Handa.

He was born in Delhi on 28 October 1958. He did his schooling at the Delhi Public School and obtained his graduation in commerce from the Shri Ram College of Commerce. He entered television in the early 1980’s as a successful television host. In those days, Doordarshan was the only television channel available in India and he debut as a host through ‘Aamne saamne’ in 1982. Baaton Baaton Mein, Saptahiki, Fursat Mein, Box Office Speaks, Koshish and Black and White are the successful television shows he hosted during 1980’s and 1990’s.

He has also hosted Subhah savere – the Morning show on Doordarshan in 2001. Dastak, Vipin Handa Speaks and Director's Special are other successful shows he hosted. In 2007 he was honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award by AAFT Film Academy. In 2001, Dastak received RAPA Award and in 1994, Baaton Baaton Mein received Best Talk Show award. He has written lyrics for Bollywood movies, aside Rani malik. Handa launched Koshish Foundation, for helping girl children and is currently writing a book for Wisdom Tree, with 14 short stories in English and Hindi.
