Coimbatore has a pleasant and salubrious climate throughout the year. This is due to the forest areas and mountain ranges nearby and the cool breeze blows through the city most parts of the year making the climate more pleasant. It has a tropical wet and dry climate with three seasons, summer, winter and monsoon.

Coimbatore Climate in Summer Season
Summer season in Coimbatore is not very troublesome. Though sometimes the mercury touches 40 degree Celsius, the cool wind that blows through the city makes the climate pleasant. April and May are the hottest months. The average high temperature during these times is 34 degree Celsius and the nights are comparatively cooler reaching about 23 degree Celsius.
Coimbatore Climate in Winter Season
The winters in Coimbatore are mild and pleasant and good for tourist activities. However the winters are short when compared with other seasons. The temperature drops to as much as 12 degree Celsius at nights but generally the climate is moderate. The highest recorded climate during winter season is 30 degree Celsius.
Coimbatore Climate in Monsoon Season
Coimbatore gets its rainfall in the months of May, June and July from northeast monsoon and in the months of August, September and October from southwest monsoon. The average annual rainfall of Coimbatore is 693 mm. October and November are the wettest months. The rainfall is not enough for the needs of the city and the water supply projects like Siruvani dam, Pilloor dam and Athikadavu dam augment the shortage.
