Pratibha Prahlad Biography 
Pratibha Prahlad is an acclaimed Bharathanatyam dancer, trainer, choreographer, arts administrator, and author. She is the founder director of the Delhi International Arts Festival, and a recipient of prestigious Padma Shri award 2016 too. She has also authored books on dance and related subjects. She is the youngest recipient of the Central Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for dance (2001). Karnataka State Government Award (2001) and Sangeet Nritya Academy Award of Karnataka (1997) are other major awards she received at a younger age. A dance career of over 40 years, she has performed in several prestigious platforms all over the world more than 50 countries, and played a role in popularizing Kathak dance form across the globe.
Prathibha Prahlad received her early training in dance under U. S. Krishna Rao, Kalanidhi Narayanan and V.S. Muthuswamy Pillai and she also learnt Kuchipudi under Vempatti Chinna Satyam. At a young age of 20, she started performing on stage. She completed post-graduation degree in Mass Communications, and also wrote columns in magazines and dailies. She authored a few books on Indian dance forms as well. Prathibha had a brief stint with television as well, where she played the roles of serial producer, director and also actress. Yet she dedicated most of her time for dance forms.
She has the unique distinction of being the only dancer of her generation to be on an Indian Postal Department ‘MyStamp’ released by the Indian Post & Telegraphs Dept. She is the founder of different art organizations such as Prasiddha Foundation and the Forum for Art beyond Borders, Delhi International Arts Festival etc. She is artistic director and choreographer for the Prasiddha Dance Repertory too. She was the convener of the Culture Committee of the Commonwealth Games 2010, which gained fame for the opening and closing ceremonies.
