Shimla Climate in Summer Season
Shimla has a warm summer with the average high temperature of 27 degree Celsius. The summer season here lasts from April to June. This is the peak time when the tourists invade the land. The summer nights are cooler than day time. The rainfall is occasional during summer season. During summer the climate in Shimla has a minimum temperature of 17 degree Celsius and the maximum temperature of 28 degree Celsius.
Shimla Climate in Winter Season
The winters in Shimla are cold and dry. The chilly winds from the Himalayas flow through this place which makes the temperature drop below zero degrees Celsius. The winter season starts from November and lasts till mid February. In December, Shimla receives snowfall and this attracts the tourists at this time and the sports like ice skating and skiing are famous in winter. However, the transportation will be a problem during this time as the roads are blocked with ice. The temperature ranges from 2 degree Celsius to 17 degree Celsius in winter and the record low is -9.4 degree Celsius. January is the coldest month.
Shimla Climate in Monsoon Season
July, August and September are the monsoon seasons in Shimla and it receives good amount of rainfall during these seasons. As these torrential pours create landslides, it is advisable not to go there on tourist visits in these months. The temperature ranges from 15 to 19 degree Celsius during rainy season.
In August, Shimla receives 434 mm rainfall and in November it is decreased to 15 mm. In spring season and winter season, the average precipitation is 45 mm per month and it increases to 175 mm in June with the approach of monsoon season. The average rainfall received in the course of the year in Shimla is 1575 mm.
