Dipika Pallikal is an Indian sportswoman who practices the game of squash. She is hailed to be the first ever Indian women to break into the top 20 WSA rankings. The best ranking in her career is 10 as of December 2012.
Dipika Pallikal was born on 21st September 1991 in Chennai in Tamil Nadu. Her full name is Dipika Rebecca Pallikkal. She was born in a Syrian Christian family of Kerala. His father’s name is Sanjeev Pallikal and her mother’s name is Susan Pallikal. Her father runs his own business Reach Management Consultancy and her mother was a cricketer in her younger days.
She completed her schooling from Good Shepherd School and Lady Andal School and then got her graduation from Ethiraj College at Chennai. She has two sisters, Divya and Dia. She started playing her first international tournament held at London when she was in her sixth standard.
She got her first WISPA title by winning the Orange County Open in Irvine when she was 20 years old. She also became the first Indian woman to reach the quarterfinals of the World Squash Open.
She got the membership of the India Cements Squash Academy in 2002 and became the National Champion at her age of 11. She is coached by Cyrus Poncha, Sarah Fitz Gerald and Major S. Maniam. She has won the German Open, Dutch Open, French Open, Scottish Open and Australian Open.
She is considered to be an important person in the Indian squash team and she ended up in the fifth place in the 2012 Women’s World Team Squash Championships. She received Arjuna Award for her excellence in sports.
She has also learned dancing and is appearing in some commercials. She also got some offers to act in movies but she refused those offers. Her good looks and smiling face have made her one of the most glamorous players of India.
