Dr Badri Narain Tiwari Biography
Badri Narayan Tiwari was born in Allahabad on 5th October, 1965. He is currently working as professor of Social History/ Cultural Anthropology at G.B. Pant Social Science Institute, Jhusi, Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. Professor Badri Narayan Tiwari is M.A. in Modern History from University of Allahabad. He has JRF (NET) Qualification and completed his Ph.D. from University of Allahabad during 1988-1993.
Dr. Badri Narayan is a Social Historian and Cultural Anthropologist by education and currently Professor at the G.B. Pant Social Science Institute, Allahabad. His wide ranging interests cover culture, memory and politics, contemporary histories, Ethnography of marginalized politics, social and anthropological history, subaltern and issues related to scheduled classes including identity formation and the question of power. His recent publications include Women Heroes and Dalit Assertion in North India and Fascinating Hindutva, Saffron Politics and Dalit Mobilisation published Publication houses and newspapers of repute respectively.
Dr Badri Narayan has been a fellow at the Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla in1998-99. He is also the Visiting Fellow at the International Institute of Asian Studies, University of Leiden, The Netherlands during the year 2002 and HGIS Fellow at the Royal Tropical Institute, Amsterdam in2001. Dr. Badri Narayan Tiwari was a recipient of the Fulbright Senior Fellowship in September 2005-April 2006 and the Smuts Fellowship, University of Cambridge (February 2007 – October 2007).
Dr Badri Narayan Tiwari has written a number of research articles both in English and Hindi in national and international Journals. He has authored Documenting Dissent- Contesting Fables, Contested Memories and Dalit Political Discourse (2001) and Multiple Marginalities- an Anthology of Identified Dalit Writings (2004).
