Faiz Fazal Biography
Faiz Fazal is an Indian cricketer who plays for National team at present. A domestic cricketer for Railways, he was earlier associated with Rajasthan Royals in Indian Premier League in 2011. He is a left-handed opening batsman. He got selected to National team on 23 May 2016 for its home series against Zimbabwe in June 2016. He made his ODI debut on 15 June 2016 and scored his maiden 50 against Zimbabwe. He was 55 not out in his first international match of his career. He opened the innings aside K L Rahul and presented a 10-wicket victory to team India.
His full name is Faiz Yakub Fazal. He was born in Nagpur, Maharashtra on 7 September 1985. Till now he has played 78 First Class matches, 64 List A matches and 48 T20 matches. When he got opportunity to play for India, he was the only member in the squad without a current IPL contract. He is presently playing league cricket in England, and he was selected for Zimbabwe tour for its outstanding record in domestic cricket. He had an outstanding season in 2015-2016 season.
In Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2015-16, he accumulated 312 runs at an average of 52 in seven one-day matches. He made 127 runs in Rest of India's chase of 480 to win the 2015-16 Irani Cup against Mumbai. As a member of India A team, he also scored one century and one 50 to lead his team to victory in the Deodhar Trophy. In T20 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy he scored 205 runs at a strike rate of 102 in nine innings, which opened him doors to Indian team. He also performed well in his debut ODI against Zimbabwe scoring a half century.
