Gourav Mukhi Biography
Gourav Mukhi is an Indian professional footballer from Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. He is associated with professional matches since 2017, and has played for the Indian football teams such as Jamshedpur B, Jamshedpur etc. He also plays for Indian Super League - professional football league in India. He plays as a forward for Jamshedpur. He is the youngest goal scorer of ISL at the age of only 16, and he made this record in 2018 ISL season. He came off the bench to become the youngest player to ever play in the HeroISL in 2018, and currently in limelight for his maiden performance. He emerged as the youth sensation after scoring his maiden ISL goal against Bangalore team. It was his professional debut on 7 October 2018 too.
Gourav Mukhi was born on 4 May 2002 in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand into a very poor family. He was raised in the slum town of Dhatkidih Harijan Bustee. His father Chhotelal Mukhi used to play football in the local circuit. Mukhi too started playing football since young, and represented Jharkhand in the Sub Juniors U15 Championship in 2015. However, he along with four players and his head coach were suspended for submitting false birth certificates. AIFF also decided to stripe Jharkhand of the Sub Junior National Football Championship. Sayad Bin Abdul Kabir, LaxmanSardar, Gaurav Mukhi and Vikash Balmuchu were other four players who were suspended.
He then Tata Steel in the local Jharkhand Football League, and made it into Jamshedpur B team. He also played exceptionally well in I-League 2nd Division, which helped him to play his first ISL in 2018 at the age of 16. He was signed by Jamshedpur, and in the first match itself he became a sensation.
