Kailas Menon Biography
Kailas Menon is a budding composer of Malayalam cinema, best known for composing "Jeevamshamayi Thaane" from Theevandi in 2018. The song written by B. K. Harinarayanan also brought fame to the lyricist. It was the top chartbuster song which went viral over net in 2018, and also bagged him first ever Filmfare award for best music composer. Though he has been composing for many years, mainly through jingles, Theevandi in 2018 was his debut filmy album, and he shot to instant fame soon after its songs got released online. The movie also ran successfully at theatres.
Kailas Menon released his first ever music album Snehathode, at the age of 16. Later he joined as an assistant to Malayalam film composer Ouseppachan, and also worked under Gopi Sunder as sound engineer. Since then for more than a decade he composed jingles for TV ads. He created more than 1000 jingles during his stint in commercials. Jayaraj's off-beat film Pakarnnattam marked his debut as a background scorer in 2007. In 2011 he bagged his first movie as a composer - Starring Pournami, a road movie, which was dropped in middle due to budget constraints. After that he had to wait long 7 years to mark his debut as a composer in Malayalam cinema.
Apart from "Jeevamshamayi Thaane", Theevandi also included tracks such as "Thaa Thinnam", "Maanathe Kanalaali" and "Oru Theeppettikkum Venda". The song Jeevamshamayi was rendered by Shreya Goshal and K. S. Harisankar. Later he composed a single track for Mohanlal starrer Ittymaani: Made in China, and also movies like Finals, Edakkad Battalion 06, Six hours and Member Ramesan 9aam Ward. He marks his Telugu debut in year 2020 with the movie, Poga Bandy, Remake of Theevandi.
