Mahendra Singh Dhoni Biography

Mahendra Singh Dhoni is an Indian cricketer. He is the captain of the Indian national cricket team. Under his captaincy, India won the ICC Twenty20 World Cup 2007, CB Series of 2007-08, Border Gavaskar Trophy in the year 2008 and 2010 against Australia and 2011 Cricket World Cup.

 

He is serving as the captain of Indian cricket team in ODI matches, Twenty20 matches and Test matches. He is also the captain of Chennai Super Kings team, winner of the 2011 IPL. He has an integral part in leading Indian team to the number one position in ICC rankings in Test cricket.

 

He was born on 7th July 1981 in Ranchi, Jharkhand (then Bihar). His parents are Pan Singh and Devaki Devi. He has a sister Jayanthi and a brother Narendra. He studied at DAV Jawahar Vidhya Mandi Shool at Shyamli in Ranchi. He married his school time friend Sakshi on 4th July 2010, the next day of their engagement. He was a goalkeeper for his football team in his school days and was then sent to play cricket. He became a wicketkeeper at the Commando cricket club and he performed well at the Vinoo Mankad Trophy under 16 in the year 1997-98.

 

Mahendra Singh Dhoni is one of the highest income tax payers in 2010. He is a fan of Adam Gilchrist. He is a right handed batsman and wicket keeper. He was selected for the Bihar cricket team during the 1998-99 cricket seasons and was sent to represent India-A team for a tour to Kenya in 2004.

 

His highest score is 183 with 145 balls against Sri Lanka on 31st October 2005. Under his captaincy, India defeated Australia by 320 runs on 21st October 2008, biggest ever win in terms of runs for India and Indian team reached the highest test score of 726 for 9 during Sri Lanka tour in 2009.

 

He has received many awards like ICC ODI Player of the Year award in 2008 and 2009, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award and Padma Shri award in the year 2009. He was 91 not out with just 79 balls in the final match of 2011 Cricket World Cup leading to the victory of India and got the Man of the Match award. He also appears in a number of televisions commercials.
