Romeo Fernandes Biography
Romeo Fernandes is an Indian professional footballer who currently plays primarily as a winger for Delhi Dynamos FC in the Indian Super League. He had a long term association with Dempo during 2011-2016 and during this period, he has played on loan for Goa, East Bengal and Atlético Paranaense. He joined Delhi Dynamos in 2017 and is currently playing ISL for the same team in 2018. He is a member of National team since 2015, and has played for junior team too. Currently he is a star in Indian football.
Romeo Fernandes hails from Assolna, Goa, and he was born in the year 1992. From a village boy to India’s national team, and to playing for a Brazilian team in Brazil, he had an amazing journey till now. He is one among the Indian players getting maximum number of ‘Man of the Match’ awards. He had an amazing ‘innings’ throughout the tournament in Federation cup, and was in the top form. He had a humble beginning in the world of sports. He lives in a small house in his village, and he had a lot of struggles to reach the place where he is right now.
Outside the house there are some Christmas decorations and a small church. Every morning he prays there and starts off to fields in a bike, where he works as a farmer to look after his family. It has been his daily routine before he became a star of Indian football. He has three brothers and one sister. He played as a left winger during his early days with Dempo, and currently plays as a right winger.
He played for Brazilian club Atletico Paranaense for the duration of one year, after a loan deal with Dempo. For the team Romeo came on as a substitute against Nacional PR in the 69th minute, which made his only appearance in Brazil. He did an impressive performance in ISL 2014 for FC Goa, earning three man-of-the-match awards and special notice of coach Zico and marquee player Robert Pires.
