Vinesh Phogat Biography 
Vinesh Phogat is an Indian wrestler who comes from a wrestling family with outstanding contributions to this field. Vinesh is the cousin of the wrestling siblings - Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari, both international wrestlers, winners of several medals at Asian Games, Common Wealth Games and World Wrestling Championships. The three wrestler girls belonging to the same family are currently supported by JSW Sport under the Sports Excellence Programme.
Vinesh Phogat was born to Rajpal Phogat, the younger brother of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat. To train the three ladies wrestling, the brothers Rajpal and Mahavir had to face huge opposition from their village. Yet they succeeded in bringing up their daughters in such a way that whole India feels pride for them. Aamir Khan’s upcoming flick ‘Dangal’ is a biographical sports drama film where Aamir Khan portrays the role of Mahavir Singh Phogat who taught wrestling to his daughters.
Three sisters started almost at the same time in wrestling championships. Vinesh started off in 2013. In 2013 Asian Wrestling Championships held at Delhi, Vinesh won the bronze medal in the women's freestyle 51 kg category. It was one of her earliest big achievement. In 2013 Commonwealth Wrestling Championships held at Johannesburg, South Africa, she won a Silver medal. She was beat by Adekuoroye Folasade Odunayo of Nigeria in the final round. In 2014 Commonwealth Games at Glasgow, she won gold medal in the women's freestyle 48 kg category, while her cousin Babita Kumari won gold in women's freestyle 55 kg category. Bronze medal in the women's freestyle 48 kg category at 2014 Asian Games and the silver medal in the women's freestyle 48 kg category at 2015 Asian Wrestling Championships are her other contributions to Indian sports.
