Kolkata Climate in Summer Season

 

The summers are hot and humid with dusty squalls and thunderstorms sometimes with heavy rains too. The maximum recorded temperature is 40 degree Celsius. It lasts from February to May and is marked by dusty violent winds. The strong wind is called Kal Baishakhit by native people. The southwesterly monsoon wind flowing through the place lessens the heat of the summer season. May and June are the hottest months.

 

 

Kolkata Climate in Winter Season

 

The winter in Kolkata starts in late November and lasts till January. January is the coolest month of the year with an average daily minimum temperature of 14 degree and average daily maximum temperature of 27 degree Celsius. This is the best time to visit the place as the weather is mild and pleasant.

 

Kolkata Climate in Monsoon Season

 

South West summer monsoon brings heavy rainfall in Kolkata between the months of June to September. The annual average rainfall of Kolkata is 1582 mm. July is the wettest month and more than 400 mm of rainfall occurs in July. The city has a total of 101 rainy days in a year.
