Alaya Furniturewala Biography
Alaya Furniturewala is an upcoming actress associated with Bollywood. Daughter of famous model-actress Pooja Bedi and Farhan Ebrahim Furniturewala, she marked her screen debut as Saif Ali Khan’s daughter in 2020 hit comedy movie, Jawaani Jaaneman. She played lead role in this movie, and her impressive performance received rave reviews. The movie directed by Nitin Kakkar also starred Tabu, Kubbra Sait, Farida Jalal, Kumud Misra, Rameet Sandhu and Kiku Sharda in pivot roles. Her maternal grandparents are veteran actor Kabir Bedi and late dancer Protima Bedi.
Alaya Furniturewala belongs to a family closely linked to arts and cinema. Her maternal grandfather Kabir Bedi has played villain roles in several Bollywood films and has also appeared in many international projects, while her maternal grandmother Protima Gauri was a model turned Odissi exponent. British television and radio presenter Nikki Bedi, former wife of Kabir Bedi is her step grandmother. Her great-grandmother Freda Bedi was a British woman who was the first Western woman to take ordination in Tibetan Buddhism.
Alaya Furniturewala was born on 28 November 1997 as the daughter of Pooja Bedi, former Bollywood actress, television talk show host and newspaper columnist. Her father Farhan Ebrahim is a businessman. She has one sibling, and one half-sibling. Her parents separated in 2003, when Alaya was a child. She studied at Jamnabai Narsee School in Mumbai and took diploma in acting at New York Film Academy before joining Bollywood in 2020. Alaya made her Hindi film debut with Nitin Kakkar's Jawaani Jaaneman (2020). She played the lead role of Saif Ali Khan and Tabu’s daughter in this movie. Her full-fledged role as Tia Singh was well appreciated by audience.
