Arif Lohar Biography
Arif Lohar is a Punjabi folk singer from Pakistan who is also associated with Bollywood in the recent times. He has also acted in a few Punjabi (Pakistani) movies. He is the son of legendary Pakistani folk singer - Alam Lohar. He uses Chimta – a local music instrument for his performances and he is associated with traditional folk heritage of the Punjab. His popular songs are included in the albums like - Alif Allah, Ek Pal, Punjab Bolda, Sher Punjab Da, Soniye, Bol Mitti Da, Aakhian and Bollywood movies like Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Shaadi ke side effects. He was featured in the song - Tauba Main Vyaah Karke Pachhtaya (Punjabi) in Farhan Akhtar’s Shaadi ke side effects in 2014. The song also featured Poorvi Koutish, Shahid Mallya & Alam Lohar.
Arif Lohar was born in Lala Musa of Punjab, Pakistan. Born as the son of prominent folk singer of Pakistan, Arif started learning music at a very young age. Both his siblings (eldest and youngest brothers) also started learning music at a young age from their father, Alam Lohar. Arif had a brief stint in acting as well before he completely switched on to music at the age of 22. Since then he has been associated with music for more than 2 decades and has travelled many countries and performed live in UK, US and UAE, which includes more than 50 foreign tours.
Arif has also played lead roles in many Punjabi movies, where he played the role of a playback singer as well. Jugni – released in 2012 is one of such most successful movies. He received Pride of Performance Award by the Government of Pakistan in 2005.
