Caralisa Monteiro Biography 
Caralisa Monteiro is a musician, lyricist and playback singer associated with Bollywood. She is also a Recording artist and vocal arranger. Apart from film songs, she is a popular face of the ad world assoiated with jingles, and one of the top artists of this field. She recorded her first jingle with Loy Mendonsa and Ehsaan Noorani. Her Christian devotional songs are also very popular. Apart from her interest in music, she is also known as social activist. Mostly known for pop, contemporary and jazz music, currently she is working on her solo album. She has a unique talent to mimic voices and accents making her one of the versatile artists of ad world.
She was born in Mumbai. She was exposed to music was at a very young age. Her father is an accountant, who has formally trained in Opera under Hyacinth Brown while her mother is a school teacher. She has one sister Giselle who is also exposed to music. She lost her mother at the age of 11. Her mother Emeline Monteiro was diagnosed with Polymyositis and eventually lost her battle to cancer. Since then she shared a close bond with her elder sister. Since school days she was keen in participating in singing competitions and has won many prizes. Tragedy struck for a second time when her sister too was diagnosed with cancer. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in her last stages and a year later, she succumbed to death. Since then Caralisa Monteiro kept herself fully engaged with her work.
She got her first break in the form of jingles. She recorded her first jingle with Loy Mendonsa and Ehsaan Noorani for a Coffee ad. Since then she has completed more than 15 years in the industry with 4000 jingles to her credit. She is often referred to as the "Jingle Queen" who often pens the lyrics for jingles apart from rendering voice. Dil Chahta Hai was her debut movie as a playback singer and she worked with Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy for maximum number of songs. Phir Dekhiye of Rock On!! in 2008 was her breakthrough song as a playback singer. Since then she has sung numerous Bollywood songs. Caralisa recently won third place in the ‘Run India Run’ 10k Marathon for women.
