Kaduvetti Guru Biography
Kaduvetti Guru is an Indian politician from Tamil Nadu belonging to Pattali Makkal Katchi party. Currently he serves as an MLA from the Jayankondam constituency. Currently he also serves as VanniyarSangam president. In 2001 assembly elections he got elected to Tamil Nadu legislative assembly from Andimadam constituency.He has gained media attention through the controversial speeches he delivers at different occasions. He has got arrested too. He was born on February 1st, 1961 and he belongs to Kaduvetti village in Ariyalur district. He belonged to an agriculture family.
On May 10, 2013 the senior leader ‘Kaduvetti’ Guru got arrested on charges of hate speech and he gained wide attention through the controversial speech. Later he was detained under the National Security Act. In 2012 a case was registered against him under IPC sections 143 for unlawful assembly and 147 for rioting against him for an inflammatory speech he allegedly made at Thazhambur in Kancheepuram district. His speech at the Chithirai festival at Mamallapuramabout love marriages has also resulted in two cases registered against him.
On March 14, 2014 Madras High Court Benchstayed criminal defamation proceedings initiated by a lawyer against him. It was for his alleged offensive remarks by him against Dalits in an interview telecast in “MakkalTholaikatchi”. In the interview he stated that Dalits all over Tamil Nadu behave the same way and they trap young girls in the lure of marriages, take mobile photos and prompts her to marry him. But after the birth of a child he prompts her to go to her family and demand money. But she gets assaulted by her family too and they don’t accept her.
He lived in Kaduvetti and died, aged 57, on 25 May 2018 in a private hospital.
