Naresh Iyer Biography
Naresh Iyer is a successful playback singer of present times. He received National award for best playback singing in the year 2006 for the chartbuster song of Rang de basanthi, ‘Roobaroo roshni’ composed by A. R. Rahman. He also won the Filmfare award in the R.D. Burman Musical Talent the same year. As many youth singers of present India his voice is promoted well by A. R. Rahman. Similar to Shreya Ghoshal he too received National award as well as Filmfare award for his singing debut, a unique achievement. He sang Masti ka paathsala and Tu Bin Bataye songs also. Same year he received Kannadasan Award for Best Male Debut. He is a versatile singer who sings for Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam movies as well.
Naresh Iyer was born to a Tamil Brahmin family, brought up in Mumbai. He completed B. Com degree from SIES College of Management Studies, Mumbai. Though his first decision was to join Chartered Accountant degree later he changed his decision to learn music. He learnt both Carnatic music and Hindustani classical music instead. He was spotted by composer A. R. Rahman in a reality talent show of Channel V – Super Singer in 2005. A. R. Rahman was the special guest of an episode of the program and Naresh was singing the first round. Though he couldn’t get through the first round, he was surprised when Rahman promised a song for this young singer. Thus he debut playback singing with Tamil song, "Mayilirage" from Anbe Aaruyire (2005). The song received Hub Award for Best Playback Singer in the year 2005. Same year Rang de basanthi too happened to him and the movie was released on February 2006 marling his successful debut in Bollywood.
His big break in Tamil is "Mundhinam Parthenae" from Vaaranam Aayiram (2008). This romantic track was the chartbuster of 2008 and gave his numerous awards as well as nominations. He received Filmfare Award (South) and Hub Award for Best Playback Singer for the song and got nominations in 2nd Vijay Awards. Other top Tamil songs of Naresh are Munbe Vaa En Anbe Vaa and Kummi adi from Sillunu Oru Kaadhal, Kannukkul Kannai of Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, Oru Mugamo of Bheema and Elay of Sakkarakatti. His noted Hindi songs are Pappu can’t from Jaane tu ya jaane naa, Mein chali of Force and Yeh kaala Bandar from Delhi 6. Kanninima Neele is a top Malayalam song he sung for Anwar. He sang the duet aside Shreya Ghosal. Another hit song is Mel mel mel of Ustad Hotel.
