Raghunandan Panshikar Biography
Raghunandan Panshikar is a Hindustani classical vocalist and composer who performs mostly in Jaipur-Atrauli gharana. He is also trained in Jaipur gharana. He also sings semi classical forms like Bhajans, Thumris, Gazals and Natya Sangeet. He is the son of the eminent Marathi stage actor and producer Prabhakar Panshikar. He has received training from Mogubai Kurdikar in Jaipur-Atrauli school of music. He has been associated with artists like Kishori Amonkar and Mogubai Kurdikar for his musical performances. He has also released music albums since early 1990s.
Pandit Raghunandan Panshikar was born on 14 March 1963 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Many of his family members and ancestors are Sanskrit scholars and classical musicians, and Raghunandan chose music. He has been drawn to music right from his children, and he also received music lessons in Hindustani music since then. He took to formal learning of music at the age of 11, and along with Hindustani classical music he also mastered light music in different forms such as Bhajans, Thumris, Gazals and Natya Sangeet. Pandit Vasantrao Kulkarni was his first guru in Hindustani music.
Currently he is fully active with his music concerts and has performed in foreign countries like Europe, the United States and the Middle East. He has composed, sang and released many musical albums, and the first one - The Feminine Power was released in the year 1991. It was followed by Bhoopnat Niranjani, Morning Mantras, Chants from Himalayan Peaks, Janak Thaat Bilaval, Healing Mantras for Insomnia, Inner Voice Signature Shlok by Pandit Jasraj, Mahadev - Golden Collection, Tapsa Ganesh, Shri Hanuman - Golden Collection etc. He is a recipient of Dr. Prabha Atre award, Manik Varma Puraskar, Upadhye Smriti Puraskar and many other honours.
