Ranjit Bawa Biography
Ranjit Bawa is a young Punjabi folk singer belonging to present day generation. A youth sensation, he rose to fame in 2013 with his single "Jatt Di akal" which became a chartbuster. The single also earned him PTC Best Folk oriented Song Award 2013. His debut Punjabi album - Mitti Da Bawa was released in 2015, which was a huge success and bagged several musical awards too. He also made his film debut the same year through the Punjabi film - Toofan Singh, a biopic of Punjabi activist Gurry kay and he played the male lead.
Mitti Da Bawa, Boti Boti, Jatt Da Dar, Dollar Vs Roti, Bandook, Sardar and Yaari Chandigarh Waliye are the popular tracks included in his debut album - Mitti Da Bawa. The album won Best World Album Award in the 2015 Brit Asia Awards. Entered the music scene in 2013 with the popular single "Jatt Di akal", some of his popular singles are Punjabio Jaagde Ke Sutte, Girls Hostel, Azaadi, Jean, Sadi Wari Aun De, Munda Sadara Da, Narrow Salwar, Chadigarh Wali, Kudi tu pataka, Naal Naal, Qurbani, Bandook, Swag jatt da, Jatt Da Dar and Jinda Sukha.
He was born in holy Amritsar in 1989. He was connected to music since his childhood, when he used to sing at school. His singing talents were noticed by his teachers who promoted him in this field. He received formal training from Master Mangal and later participated in several singing competitions. During his college days too, he participated in several music events. He holds a master’s degree from Khalsa College, Amritsar. He continuously performed Pakistani song, Bol Miti Deya Baweya for those 6 years at college and that’s how ‘Bawa’ tag got added to his name.
