S. P. Venkatesh Biography 
S P Venkatesh is a popular music director of Malayalam, most active during 1990’s. He scores background music also for movies. His major hits include – Valsalyam, Indrajaalam, Kilukkam, Minnaram, Sphadikam, Dhruvam, Kauravar, No.20 Madras Mail, Manthrikam and Rajavinte Makan. He has delivered music to numerous blockbusters of Mohan Lal of which No.20 Madras Mail, Indrajaalam, Kilukkam, Minnaram, Sphadikam,Manthrikam and Rajavinte Makanare most popular. Not only that, he has given background score to blockbusters of Mohanlal like Devasuram, Appu, Vazhiyorakkazhchakal, Bhoomiyile Rajakkanmar, Nadodi and Thenmavin kombath. In 1993 he won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Music Director for Paithrukam and Janam. He uses acouttic guitar, bass guitar and violin orchestra along with traditional instruments. He has also done background score of a few of Priyadarshan movies like – Hungama, Kyon ki, Gardish, Muskurahat, Virasat and Yeh tera ghar yeh mera ghar.
Venkatesh’s father Pazhani was an accomplished Mandolin player. Venkatesh too, started his carrier playing music instruments like Guitar, Banjo and Mandolin and has worked as an assistant of Shyam and Raveendran during 80’s. He has given music to a few movies like Vivahitare Itihile and Janakeeya Kodathi before getting his big break. His major breakthrough was through Mohan Lal movie – Rajavinte Makan, directed by Thampi Kannanthanam. Songs like Paadam jnanaa gaanam and Vinnile Gandharava became huge hits along with the movie. It was Thampi kannanthanam who exploited the musical talent of S.P.Venkatesh who later used his compositions in many of his movies of 90’s.
S.P has given music to a few Bengali movies as well. Bhalobasa Bhalobasa, Champion, Jor and Bajimaat are quite a few. As a background scorer, he started his career with Mohanlal movie, Desatanakkili Karayarilla. He has scored background score to many hit movies of Malayalam like – Vazhiyorakkazhchakal, Bhoomiyile Rajakkanmar, Mahayanam, Appu, Kuttettan, Kizhakkan Pathrose, maha nagaram, Nadodi and Douthyam of which majority of films exclusively belong to Mohan Lal. As a music director his other hits include – Ithu manju kaalam, Vyooham, Tom and Jerry, mannar mathai speaking, Aniyan Bava Chetan Bava, Adhyathe kanmani, Vazhunor, Pandippada, Kilukkam kilukilukkam, Ennodishtam Koodamo, Daddy, Shreedhanam, Saubhagyam, Pravachakan, Injakkadan Mathai & Sons and Sopanam.
