V. Selvaganesh Biography 
V. Selvaganesh is an Indian percussionist and one of the leading kanjira players at present. He is also known as "Chella S. Ganesh” and he plays kanjira according to Carnatic tradition of music. Currently he works as a music composer of south Indian cinema also. He is the son of Grammy award winning percussionist -Thetakudi Harihara Vinayakram. He debut music direction with Tamil movie, Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu (2008) and now works for Telugu movies as well. His noted works include - Kola Kolaya Mundhirika (2009), Drohi (2010), Nil Gavani Sellathey (2010), Kullanari Koottam (2011), Pilla Zamindar (2011), Shiva Manasulo Shruti (2012), Nirnayam (2013) and Rettai Vaalu (2013). Most recently he entered production field with the movie Nirnayam. He gained world fame through tours with John McLaughlin's group, Remember Shakti
He was born in Palakol, Chennai to Grammy-winning musician Vikku Vinayakram on December 28, 1966. T. R. Harihara Sarma, one of the founders of Sri Jaya Ganesh Tala Vadya Vidyalaya, Chennai was his grandfather. Now he assists his father to run the Sri JGTV School and trains a new generation of Carnatic percussionists. Apart from being a part of John McLaughlin's group, he has worked as a kanjira player and composed and produced albums for Swedish bass player Jonas Hellborg and American guitar virtuoso Shawn Lane.
His debut solo Album - Soukha, was released in 2006 which was released worldwide. Shakti group also includes prominent Indian musicians like Zakir Hussain, U. Srinivas, Niladri Kumar and Shankar Mahadevan. His father is also a part of the group. He has also formed a new group called dr JSM. The debut album under this band, ‘Turn on the dreams’ was released in the UK in 2005. In 2012, Selvaganesh made his film directorial debut with Bodhai, a short film in Tamil.
