Amrit Maghera Biography

Amrit Maghera is a model turned actress based on London who works in India and Bollywood. Amrit is of Indian, English and Scottish origin. She has done a diploma course in acting from The Barry John Acting Studio in Mumbai. She is originally in UK. So she had to familiarize Indian entertainment industry a little bit. She did many modelling assignments in India, most notable one being Lakme India where she served as its brand ambassador as well. She is also a professional singer. She has sung the lead vocals on the 'Mad about Dance' soundtrack.

Amrit was born and brought up in UK. She did BA in Performing Arts from Winchester University in Hampshire and later moved to Mumbai, where she did an acting course from The Barry John Acting Studio. She started her professional career as a dancer. She has been associated with the international music band Guns N’ Roses and also the rapper, Kanye West as a background dancer. She worked with Bollywood too, as a background dancer when she was spotted by modelling agency which offered her a five year contact with India’s top cosmetic company – Lakme. Later she was chosen as the brand ambassador for this product.

Amrit’s success as a model gave her film roles also. She played a lead role in the street dance feature film Mad About Dance, followed by Punjabi hit film 'Goreyan Nu Daffa Karo' opposite Amrinder Gill. Her role received rave reviews from critics also. She has been tagged by Harper’s Bazaar India as ‘One of the most promising new-comer actresses this year’. She was also seen playing one of the leads 'Joanna Mendes' in Pan Nalin's Indian film 'Angry Indian Goddesses' released in December 2015. The movie won several international awards.
