Amrita Puri Biography
Amrita Puri is a Bollywood actress who debut big screen with the movie, Aisha (2010) in supporting role. Later she appeared in hit movies like Blood Money (2012) and Kai Po Che! (2013). She is the daughter of Aditya Puri, Managing Director of HDFC Bank. She currently resides at Mumbai.
Puri was born in 20 August 1983 in Mumbai. After studies, she became active with theatre. She acted as well as wrote for theatre. Her first play was Quasar Thakore Padamsee's English play - Retellings View From The Stage. She did copywriting for advertising agency and worked as a freelancer for a magazine for about a year. She did her portfolio and started attending auditions. Her first ad was for Kotex, followed by People First, Garnier and L'Oreal, the leading brands. She debut big screen with hit movie, Aisha aside Sonam Kapoor and Abhay Deol, Aisha. She played the role of a traditional girl - Shefali Thakur in the movie, Aisha for which she garnished appreciation. Same role gave her Best Breakthrough Performance Award at Star Dust awards. She received multiple nominations at Filmfare for best female debutant and supporting actress. She also received nomination for Best Actress in a Supporting Role at Zee Cine Awards and Star Screen Awards.
She was active in theatre exactly at the same period and worked in many award winning plays like - The Interview and Famous Last Words. In 2012, she appeared in Blood Money as the female lead Aarzu. The movie too was a commercial success. In 2013, she appeared in Kai Po Che!, based on Chetan Bhagat's novel ‘The 3 Mistakes of My Life’ as female lead Vidhya Bhatt. The movie was one of the hits of the year 2013. Now she has a handful of projects in hand including No Entry Mein Entry, Aaj Ka Naya Khiladi, Ratta Maar, Dangerous Khiladi and Rani Tu Main Raja.
