Anuj Sharma Biography

Ramanuj Sharma, better known as Anuj Sharma is a well-known and established film, stage and television personality known for different kinds of roles. This multi-facet artist has been honoured with Padma Shri by the Government of India, in 2014, for his contributions towards the world of Indian entertainment. He is the first film personality from Chhattisgarh to receive this honour. He acts and directs shows, apart from singing and compering events and stage shows. He is also considered as the first superstar of Chhattisgarhi films, and many of his films have been dubbed into other languages. He has also acted in numerous Bhojpuri films.

He was born on 15 May 1976 in Bhatapara, Raipur, Chhattisgarh. He started acting and singing at the age of ten, initially associated with stage plays. After studies, he worked as marketing executive at Godrej for a while before he quit his job to join entertainment industry. Sharma made his acting debut in year 2000 with Chhattisgarhi film, Mor Chhaihan Bhuiyan. The film became a huge commercial success becoming a silver jubilee hit, and he shot to stardom with his debut flick as an actor. 8 releases were made in a year and half of them became commercial hits – a feat achieved by Sharma only in Chhattisgarhi films.

For the movies – Maya, Mr Tetkuram and Mohu Diwana Tuhu Diwani, he received best actor award. His films have been dubbed into many languages with local dialects such as Sambalpuri, Jharkhandi, Bundelkhandi, Bhojpuri etc and many of his films became trendsetters and also created new benchmarks to Chhattisgarhi cinema. He is active on stage and television also, and till now has done more than 300 stage shows across the country. He is also a Chhattisgarhi folk singer who has released over 100 video albums, has rendered his voice for more than 200 film and folk songs, and composed 10 albums as well.
